The Best Stages to Book Your Child’s Photo Taken

I get it, you see them on your feed: The precious photos capturing the rosy cheeked babies. You think to yourself, “I have to HAVE those photos of my little one.” Whether its your first child or your 10th, there are certain ages and stages you will definitely want captured of your little one.

#1 Newborn

One thing I regret is not having professional newborn photos taken of my daughter. I hadn’t started photographing newborns back then, we were home during the height of covid, nervous about taking out out new little one or having someone come into the house. Obviously her safety was our main concern but I get so bummed looking back on the few images I have of her, definitely weren’t “frame worthy.”

I get it, your exhausted mama. But remember that your little one will never be this small ever again. The newborn froggy-scrunch will go away and the tiny toes will become chubby toddler feet running through the house. #2 The Sitter Session

Some of my absolute favorite stages to have photographed are sitter sessions. Your little has those cute chubby cheeks, happy smiles, and the best part: They aren’t running away yet! We get to sit and play and their little personalities are starting to form. Trust me: The grandparents won’t get over these sweet photos.

#3 The One Year

Celebrate your littles first year around the sun. Whether you choose to do a full blown cake smash session or just simple portraits, now is the time. At one year your sweet little friend is crawling or wobbly-walking and the personality is on FULL BLAST. The sassy attitudes, first words, and silly faces. Now is a great time to also consider a full family session. Your little one will be able to interact with the family, but still loves all the dreamy cuddles.

#4 Maternity

I know you might not think of it as part of your little ones story, it is the start of your motherhood journey. You might not think you’ll miss this stage, but one day your little one will crawl in your lap and ask about when they were in mommy’s tummy. No matter what you think: YOU ARE GLOWING mama, capture this time.
